Length Of Course: 18-24 months

Hours Of Work: Monday - Friday, 7.30am-4.30pm

What We’re Looking For:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for mature, hardworking individuals to join our production teams across the country as a Groundwork Apprentice. This is a great chance to build your knowledge and experience in a sought-after trade, learning fundamental and transferable practical skills, whilst gaining valuable work experience and life lessons. 

Site Work

Groundworkers are the first contractors to begin work on a construction site. They work closely with all construction trades, such as bricklayers and plant operatives, to prepare the site ready for building works to begin. 

Key activities include:

  • Foundations, hard landscaping, and earthworks.

  • Concreting.

  • Traditional drainage and pipe laying.

  • Benching, channelling manholes and gullies.

  • Road works, laying kerbs, paving, surfacing and tarmac laying.

  • Utility ducting and laying.

  • Use of plant/machinery.

  • Steel fixing and piling.

In order to work on site you will be required to sit a Health and Safety Operative test, to gain your CSCS card. This will be organised and funded by MV Kelly.

College

As an apprentice your time will be split between working on a live site and attending college through a mixture of day release/block week’s. Your time in college will support your knowledge and understanding of the various tasks completed on site. You will finish the course achieving a Level 2 Groundwork Apprentice qualification.

You will be required to attend one of the below colleges (travel is not provided):

  • Salutem College - B6 5RS

  • Telford College - TF1 2NP

  • Milton Keynes College – MK6 1NJ

  • Preston College - PR2 8UR

  • West Suffolk College - IP33 3RL
